What to do?

I scrambled to get my birdhouse order finished...it was close but I got them done and out the door.  I, unfortunately, didn't get a chance to photograph them before they left (as so often happens with me)--but I think that they were well receicved.  Maybe I'll get some snapshots of them in their new home.  Now I am left wondering what to do??  My studio is quite frozen right now so starting any large projects is out of the question.  I've been searching etsy to muster up some ideas and have tentatively decided to bring all of my plaster tile molds in and start a little ceramic tile factory in the back room.  I love designing tiles--but the actual labor of producing and finishing large quantities of the same thing is not my favorite activity--but at least it will keep me going.  Winter blahs are tough to keep away!

Birdhouses

I have been asked to make three birdhouses for some folks in the UK--for Christmas.  I am so excited about this project --although I consider myself a figurative artist I really do love to make bird accessories.  The only hesitation I have is that they need three houses by the first week of December and I'm feeling a little anxious about the time frame.  Working with clay is about 30% work and 70% waiting --waiting for the slabs to dry to a stage where they can be handled--waiting for pieces to reach the same moisture level--and finally waiting for the pieces to dry enough to be fired.  I'll do my best and hope that the weather dries up a bit.  I've already spent about a week just comong up with some designs......

Alpacas, Art and The River Arts District

Had a great time at the River Arts Stroll today.  I only wish I could have stayed longer.  My best art buddy, Jennifer (a.k.a. Kung Fu Clay) had her grand opening today and her space looked incredible!  The weather was gorgoeus and there were plenty of new faces there, especially down on Depot Street-where the new Pink Dog Studio is.  Even got to meet some local alpacas and learn all about their temperment and the quality of yarn they produce.  One thing that I did notice about the River Arts District that I found very interesting--The big names that reside there seem to be getting even bigger.  What does this mean...I don't know, but I'd love to hear some thoughts on this topic.......

New Work......"Caroline"

A Brand New Day

I am so excited to begin a new way of presenting my ceramic work.  So much of what I do begins with a thought or an idea that I need to play with for a while... so I decided to set up this blog as a forum to share not only my sculptural pieces, but also the process.  I think that (just like everything in life) the journey can be just as interesting as the end result.
